Juan Diaz began DJing in his native Catalonia in 1988, aged only 15 years old. After regularly playing throughout Spain, he gained his first residency at Pacha, Pineda (in Tarragona city) in 2000, playing weekly to a crowd of 5,000 people. In the same year, Diaz gained his first guest spot at Pacha Ibiza and joined the club’s DJ agency ‘Pacha Futura’. After having built his name and reputation on the Spanish house scene, Diaz took his sound onto an international level. He now plays regularly in Holland, Portugal, Malaysia, America and Italy and has played standout parties at Creamfields (yearly festival in UK), Zouk (Singapore) and Opium Gardens (Miami) as well as DJing for Pachas worldwide, including clubs in Ibiza, London, Budapest and Zurich. From summer (2005) Diaz was resident for Erick Morillo’s Subliminal Sessions at Pacha, Ibiza, playing alongside Morillo, Harry Romero, Jose Nunez, Tom Novy, Steve Angello and many others. He currently holds a respected weekly residency at Catwalk in Barcelona. In 2003, Diaz was nominated as the ‘Best Spanish DJ’ at the Miami Winter Music Conference and in 2006 he won the Prestige Award for Best House DJ in Barcelona. In 1999, Diaz released his first compilation “New Dimension” on Spanish label Kidesol Records. He followed in 2000 with “Mediterranean House Music Vol. 1” and in 2001 with “Mediterranean House Music Vol. 2”. In 2003, Diaz mixed “Pacha Ibiza Winter Sessions Vol. 2” and this year he mixed and released the first compilation on his own label ‘Marfil Records’ entitled “Marfil Ibiza sessions Vol. 1”, alongside Danny Chatelain. Forthcoming, Diaz is set to release “Pacha Winter Sessions Volume 4” – mixed alongside Hector Romero. On the production front, Diaz released his first single in 2000, entitled “Mediterraneo” on Kidesol Records; it became a big summer track, going on to be licensed in the US and Hong Kong. His productions since have included “Ponche EP”, “Come Back Again”, “Friends EP” and “First time of my life” (Tarraco recordings), “The Midnight EP” (Weekend records) and forthcoming is set to release “Free” on Robbie Rivera’s Juicy Music. He has also remixed tracks for labels Cabellero, Tarraco and Juicy Music. Diaz’s style is deep, sexy house with a tough edge: he controls the dancefloor wherever he plays; with a relentless groove that locks you in and takes with it.
