OHM-G

Olaf Gutbrod, aka OHM-G, was fascinated by the music as far as his thoughts go back. Music was and is magic for him. Olaf got his first guitar when he was 9 years old. From this moment on he knew that music was his life. OHM-G started travelling at the age of 19, when he made his first big trip to South America and then to India. He also visited other places like Africa and many more, always to study the music of the people there in his own way. Being 21 years old, OHM-G met Joe Mubare and working with him had a very strong influence on his music. At the same time OHM-G started with his first recordings on a 4 Track Tape Recorder. In the late 80s and early 90s Gutbrod played a lot live with German legendary bands like Embryo, Chris Karrer, Amon Duell and his own band "Gutbrod Attack ". OHM-G became interested in Studio Productions and built his first studio, " Red Light Studio" in Munich, where he lived. He started to experiment with sounds, which was much more exciting for him than to play in a band. By then he was offered to produce soundtracks for movies and theater. 1996 Kenny Smith ( Manager of Eurithmics ) called him to work with several artists in London like William Henshall ( London Beat ), Tim Bran ( Dread Zone ), Jon Porter ( Roxy Music ). During that time Olaf Gutbrod also wrote with Vaya Con Dios. In 1997 he returned to Munich and made a project with the Performance Artist FLATZ; at the same time he started DJing again, based on his own productions. In the beginning of 2000 OHM-G produced a Sample CD, " Spiritual Voices, " only with tribal voices. To do this project he travelled to Africa and India. This Sample CD has been a big success until now and many known artists work with his recordings. In 2001 Jubilee Recordings released his first album " Future Ballads " under his Artist name OHM-G. Many tracks of this album are compiled on famous CDs like Café del Mar, Café Abstrait, Chillin Voices, Sounds of the Magic Island, Sofa Beat and many more. Tracks from this CD are still being added to well-known compilations in 2007. OHM-G decided to move to Ibiza in April 2002 to work and live on the island. His second album, " Pop-Art, " was released in the same year with Blue Flame. OHM-G then got an offer to remix " Love Theme " from Vangelis (Soundtrack Bladerunner ). This track was released under his surname, Gutbrod. OHM-G started a new project with Bruno from Ibiza ( Resident DJ of Café del Mar ) . In February 2005 “ MOMENTS,” the 4th album from OHM-G was released with Kue. In June 2005 the first album from Bruno from Ibiza was released with Pschent , all tracks written and produced by Ohm-g & Bruno. Tracks from this album have been placed in popular compilations like Hotel Costes and Café del Mar, and many more. In 2007 Ohm-g released his new album Acoustic Acupuncture with MTunes, only for digital download. Since 2004 OHM-G is the resident DJ at Atzaró, where he initiated last year the Atzaró Lounge, one of the best locations for exquisite music and visuals in Ibiza. He is currently compiling the first Atzaró CD, which will be released in Spring 2008. For the last five years Olaf Gutbrod has been working with several known DJs and he made some remixes for known artists like Vargo, Chris Zippel, Aural Floa and Deep Dive Corp.. All these experiences and his improved work as a DJ led him to his first dance album, which will be released in 2008, something very special, very personal and very sexy: watch out ! Some of the tracks have already been dancefloor-proven. In his DJ sets, Gutbrod plays from sophisticated Classical, Ambient, Lounge to sexy groovy Electro music, his intention always being to spread the spirit of love.
